Stereogram are delighted to announce the release of “Wayne Moon Pilot”, the brilliant new single from St. Christopher Medal, which will be available to download and stream from February 3rd 2017.
The first new material from the band since their well-received debut album “Sunny Day Machine” in 2015, it is accompanied by an idiosyncratic video created by lead singer and songwriter Ali Mathieson’s son, Roddy.
“Wayne Moon Pilot” itself is an epic six minutes plus track which both harks back to a classic seventies feel, while simultaneously looking forward by sounding totally contemporary. It concludes with another stunning guitar workout from Kenny Mathieson which fans of Great Lakes Morning will love.
Ali Mathieson has provided this quote himself to describe the track:
“Look up at the moon (that silver boat) and bathe in the gaze of ‘Wayne, Moon Pilot’ looking back. With his Hummingbird guitar, sat on a sterile space-porch, Wayne might sing a country-rock lament like this – and weep his salty tears. For a band, he has the itinerant Perthshire six-piece St Christopher Medal. Their 2015 album ‘Sunny Day Machine’ on Stereogram Recordings was the last communication he received from Earth… It defines him… For backing vocals, only ghosts – Lord Byron, David Bowie, Edwin Hubble, Clarence White… On Earth we hear this only – the first sounds from St Christopher Medal’s new long player due later this year… But don’t cry, Wayne… Don’t cry… As the poet says – “But greet, an’ in your tears ye’ll drown /The haill clanjamfrie!”
To launch the single St. Christopher Medal appear live on February 3rd 2017 at The Wee Red Bar, Edinburgh College Of Art as part of a Stereogram package also featuring STOOR and The Eastern Swell. More info on the gig is available on the live dates tab. Tickets can be purchased from here:
