“Death Made A Star” is a neo-noir psychodrama viewed through an AM pop kaleidoscope. The single channels the vanity, jealousy and egotistical daydreams of 70s Hollywood in a tale of blessed misfortune that could adorn the pages of Peter Biskind’s ‘Easy Riders, Raging Bulls’ if it wasn’t a creation of pure pulp.

Chris is joined by Jeremy Thoms of The Cathode Ray on bass, Alex Thoms on drums, and Magnus Kramers on keys. Lainie Urqhuart of The Eastern Swell and Jeremy provide backing vocals.

While this is Chris’ first single under his own name, as the principal songwriter and creative force of Scottish psychedelic-folk band The Eastern Swell, his eclectic songwriting and playful lyricism helped the group gain critical attention and a suitably niche appeal amongst discerning fans.

To launch the single, Chris will be supporting Ryan Kattner’s art-rock band Man Man (Sub Pop Records) at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh on November 8th 2024 .
