We were poets, musicians, writers, comedians, actors, designers, artists and photographers – full of life, hope and rebellion. Edinburgh in the 80s, despite the turbulence of Thatcherism, was vibrant. We were brimming with potential; a hedonistic mix of dreamers and doers, fantastic and fearless. On any given day, we could be whomever we wanted. Creativity was key, and that usually started in our favourite charity shop. Everyone had something to say and they said it – in theatres, wine bars and pop up parties. It was a time when originality was celebrated, uniqueness was applauded – and it was all photographed.
When the sun went down, Edinburgh became our playground, our platform, our voice. When the sun came back up, it was an easy walk home in the morning light.
Great memories of a fun time!
Thanks Innes.
